JOB TITLE: Business Development Representative

Description
The International Center for Professional Development (ICPD), is seeking candidates to immediately join our dynamic team in the role of Business Development Representative.

The Business Development Representative will seek new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential ELISA members, sponsors and summit attendees. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience developing leads from marketing campaigns and meeting sales quotas. You will use your communication skills to cultivate strong relationships with customers, from first contact until you formalize a committment. You will also ensure proper after-sales service. If you are motivated and results-driven, and enjoy working in a team environment, we’d like to meet you.

This is position offers a flexible schedule and you can decide whether you work home based or office based. Fluency in English, and the ability to travel on short notice is required..

Qualifications

  • Good communication and fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to create compelling narratives for products and markets
  • Exceptional social skills and leadership abilities, able to collaborate with diverse groups, and persuade, influence, and encourage their peers
  • Public speaking and ability to deliver engaging presentations
  • Ability to work independently with strong discipline
  • Knowledge of business and entrepreneurialism
  • Proven experience in sales, or business development, customer service or similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver sales results
  • Familiarity with MS Excel (analyzing spreadsheets and charts)
  • Knowledge or experience with Africa focused economic development
  • Valid passport and ability to travel to Zimbabwe for the ELISA Summit

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting participants for the annual ELISA Summit
  • Securing sponsorships for the annual ELISA Summit
  • Develop marketing campaigns
  • Contacting potential clients through cold calls, email and conference calls
  • Presenting summit and membership info to potential members and selling memberships for the ELISA Network
  • Develop a marketing strategy to attract ELISA Summit attendance, sponsorship and membership.
  • Develop clear & compelling commercial business strategies that drive Summit attendance and membership growth by actively seeking out new opportunities for ICPD to partner with multi-national and Africa based organizations.
  • Work with the ICPD executives to develop pricing strategies for sponsorship
  • Actively support the planning and arranging of the ELISA Summit
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations, researching market and related events, publications, and announcements.
  • Adhere to all ICPD policies, procedures and business ethics
  • Research target demographics, economic trends, member needs and interests and other data that can be used in creating strategies for business development
  • Build trusting relationships with summit attendees; sponsors; members; investors and partners through consistent follow up, reliable communication and frequent updates on developments in Africa
  • Report to the Executive Director on weekly and monthly sales results
